WHAT CAUSES FOGGED WINDOWS?

Have fogged windows?

The good news is that we can fix it! There are a number of reasons why this happens, but the solution always remains the same. Replace or repair seals between your panes of glass to stop all moisture from leaking in. This common problem with older windows and doors may happen on any side of a home–it won’t just be happening on one specific window or door either.

If your windows are foggy, it is probably because the desiccant material has become saturated with moisture. The desiccant will continue to attract and hold as much moisture as possible, but eventually it will be unable to absorb any more. At that point, water vapor in the air between the panes of glass will condense on the cold surface of one of the panes. This process is called “fogging” or “condensation”. Eventually, this may lead to damage to your window film or even a broken seal between two panes of glass if left untreated for long enough periods of time.

We offer replacement windows that can help prevent fogging from occurring by reducing seal failure. These windows are made of higher grade materials.  EcoView Windows of Milwaukee carries windows that meet the strict standards of outside sources like the ENERGY STAR label or certification from the Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) which sponsors a Hallmark Certification Program.

The WDMA Hallmark is considered a mark of excellence, indicating that manufacturers participate in periodic in-plant inspections by a third party to ensure compliance with high performance criteria. It also indicates an ongoing commitment to quality control and customer satisfaction.

Our technicians are trained professionals who know how best to install these new replacement windows to help prevent seal failure from happening again too soon.  Let us take care of everything while you get back to focusing on what matters most – taking good care of your family!  Contact us today for an appointment with one of our specialists!
